A perfect adult holiday treat, these Rum Balls are an amazing boozy dessert during Winter. For the rum, I used Bumbu, a Caribbean rum with caramel and oak flavor. This one is a really easy dessert to make since it does not require baking. The most time-consuming part is rolling the dough into balls. Friendly warning! I was a little over-zealous with the taste testing and had to take a nap afterwards.
When making the rum balls, be mindful not to over-process the pecans as they will turn into pecan butter if processed too long!
Once you have your processed pecans, mix them in the with other dry ingredients. Add in your wet ingredients (honey and rum), then mix until you have a slightly tacky dough.
Coating
One of the best things about rum balls is you can use all the ingredients to coat them. Cocoa powder, the additional pecans, wafer crumbles, and confectioners’ sugar gives you a variety of coatings that make this recipe visually appealing for minimal effort.
